Microsoft to Start Automatic IE Upgrades

For those who may not be aware, Microsoft has decided to finally help us all out by releasing the stranglehold of death that all designers and developers have been choked by … older versions of IE browsers. While this is excellent news, be forewarned that we can’t always rely on all users having auto-update switched on, for various reasons.

"Today we are sharing our plan to automatically upgrade Windows customers to the latest version of Internet Explorer available for their PC. This is an important step in helping to move the Web forward. We will start in January for customers in Australia and Brazil who have turned on automatic updating via Windows Update. Similar to our release of IE9 earlier this year, we will take a measured approach, scaling up over time."

Ugh… me and probably every other web developer wishes that IE would just go away… phased out completely like Netscape. What looks awesome in chrome and firefox and safari and opera looks like butt in IE. Then you have to tweak, and change, and tweak, and change, and nothing every looks perfect on all browsers. Sadly, 25% of my website visitors still use IE.
