Brought to you by the talented minds at BBDO, this anti-smoking ad is sure to stir up emotions (among other things) to get its point across about self-proclaimed social smokers.
The campaign, commonly referred to as “Social Farting,” has actors passing gas in social situations while using the same language that “social smokers” use to justify their habit of lighting up only when they are at parties or out at a club.
Being excited by last years (2012) results of publishing my goals publicly, I was hoping to share the joy this process has given me. As I was tossing over some thoughts, I recently came across an article with a similar topic on .net magazine (one of my favorite field resources). While the perspective was unique, well-written and thought out; I believe the direction is wrong and a dangerous misconception for early adopters of our field. While most of this writing is about my own experience, I would like to touch upon a different viewpoint from the .net article.

When I started out searching for a global solution with a “one and done” approach to placing Pinterest’s “pin it” button on a page and wrote about it in this post, I didn’t quite expect the sheer volume of responses from users out there searching for the same thing. Recently, we wanted to add a small parallax effect to the header of a website we designed & developed. Thankfully, several talented developers have spent time developing jQuery plugins for this purpose. Most notably, we were thinking of using Ian Lund’s jQuery plugin. However, we just needed the parallax effect for the top header background image. Using a jQuery plugin seemed a bit heavy for what we needed.
